We finally got to see the Giro d’Italia today in Modane just near the base of Col du Telegraphe. We even managad to get a happy birthday message chalked out on the road for Mark Cavendish. Not sure he saw it though! The big climb of the day was meant to be the Col du Galibier but it was snow bound so we took a detour over the equally impressive Col de la Croix de Fer back to our base in Bourg d’Oisans

Finally the sun was out. Today we climbed the Col de Montgenevre into Italy before descending down to the Col de Mont Cenis. The Giro tackled this both ways this year and was a real challenge for all our 8 guests.

This was meant to be the day that we caught the Giro d’Italia on the finish of the Col du Galibier. Unfortunately the weather had other ideas !
